RENEXPO – connect energies 2026
March 19 – March 20
The international trade fair for the energy systems of the future
A new name, an expanded concept and a clear strategic focus on the future, the long-established trade fair will take place in Salzburg on 19 and 20 March 2026. What was known in 2025 as Renexpo Interhydro, a leading trade fair for hydropower, is now evolving into RENEXPO – connect energies: an interdisciplinary platform that goes far beyond hydropower and places the entire energy system of tomorrow at its centre.
In March, the Messezentrum Salzburg will once again become a key meeting point for companies, industry experts, research institutions and political decision-makers committed to shaping a secure, sustainable and intelligently interconnected energy supply.
From hydropower expertise to integrated energy systems
RENEXPO continues to build on its strong heritage. Hydropower remains a central pillar of the event, highlighting why it continues to play a vital role in Austria’s and Europe’s energy mix. From Kaplan, Pelton and Francis turbines to control and measurement technology and the revitalisation of existing plants, the exhibition demonstrates the innovative strength and long-term relevance of this proven renewable energy source.
At the same time, RENEXPO 2026 significantly broadens its scope. Under the guiding principle “connect energies”, the fair reflects the understanding that future energy systems can only function through the intelligent interaction of all renewable sources. Hydropower, solar and wind energy, storage technologies and digital solutions must be efficiently combined and optimally integrated.
Focus Topics 2026: Storage, grids and sector coupling
As the share of volatile renewable energy sources increases, system stability and integration become decisive factors. RENEXPO 2026 therefore places a strong emphasis on storage and grid technologies, including:
- Pumped-storage power plants and Power-to-X solutions
- Battery storage systems for industry, commerce and integrated energy systems
- Smart grid, control and energy management technologies
- Networked energy systems, capacity management and cross-sector coupling
These focus areas offer exhibitors and visitors valuable opportunities to explore innovative solutions, establish partnerships and engage in dialogue with a highly qualified professional audience.
High-level conference and supporting programme
RENEXPO 2026 will be accompanied by a comprehensive and high-quality conference programme, addressing both strategic and technical aspects of the energy transition.
A key highlight is the opening panel discussion:
“Renewable Energies in Interaction – Storage Solutions as the Key to Security of Supply.”
Experts from politics, the energy industry, associations and research institutions will discuss the requirements for a reliable energy system and the critical role of storage technologies in ensuring security of supply.
The programme also includes specialised technical presentations, such as:
“An Oil- and PFAS-Free Lubrication Solution for Kaplan Runner Hubs,”
demonstrating how technological innovation contributes to environmental protection and operational efficiency in hydropower plants.
In addition, RENEXPO will host a series of expert conferences organised in cooperation with vgbe energy e.V. and the Association for Ecology and Environmental Research, offering in-depth insights, current research findings and best-practice examples from hydropower, storage technologies and integrated energy systems.

Exhibitors and networking opportunities
RENEXPO 2026 brings together a broad range of exhibitors from across the energy value chain, including renewable energy producers, technology providers, grid and storage specialists, digital solution providers and infrastructure companies.
“The energy sector is undergoing rapid transformation. With RENEXPO – connect energies, we are creating a trade fair that honours the strengths of hydropower while simultaneously opening the perspective to the entire energy system. Our aim is to connect industries, showcase innovation and provide a place where the future of energy is actively shaped.”
— Christoph Schrammel, Exhibition Manager
