Join EREF – Europe’s Federation for Independent Renewable Energies
Driving a 100% Renewable Energy System

The European Renewable Energies Federation (EREF) brings together national renewable energy associations, independent power producers, and innovators across Europe.

For more than 25 years, EREF has served as trusted coordination platform for independent renewable actors, especially SMEs, helping shape fair, transparent, and stable frameworks for a fully renewable energy system in Europe.

As a trusted European stakeholder, EREF connects leading voices from EU institutions, industry, and research through a high-level network that helps shape Europe’s renewable framework and strengthen investor confidence. Through its activities, EREF promotes renewables as driver for Europe’s energy transformation: from market design and grid planning to permitting, financing, flexibility, and innovation.

Be part of the federation that connects expertise from across all renewable energy sectors to shape Europe’s energy system.

EREF’s members form the heart of the federation. National umbrella and sectoral associations collectively set priorities and guide our work in Brussels.
As a democratic federation, every full member (regardless of size or technology) has one voice and one vote.
The Industry & Science Advisory Committee (ISAC) connects innovative SMEs (project developers, producers, system and equipment manufacturers) and research institutions with EREF’s European policy and analytical work.
It offers members direct access to EREF’s network of high-level EU decision-makers to report their first-hand experience of their daily business practice with renewable energy project development and production and to highlight their proposals to improve the European legal framework.
In addition, ISAC members benefit from first-hand policy intelligence and early insights into upcoming EU developments; EREF’s assessment of the impact of EU policy proposals on SMEs; an increased visibility within Brussels’ renewables community; and an open space for dialogue and cooperation – strengthening the role of independent actors and SMEs in Europe’s renewable energy landscape.
Who can join:
  • associations and organisations of producers of renewable energy from EU or EFTA countries may become full members of EREF (Article 6(2), Statutes);
  • eligible members include national renewable energy associations or sectoral organisations representing independent generators of electricity, heat, or fuels and promoting stable, transparent, and non-discriminatory frameworks for their members.
Who can join:

Be part of the European renewables movement

By joining EREF, you strengthen the collective platform of independent renewable producers and innovators across Europe.

Smaller actors, in particular SMEs, energy communities, and energy citizens, are essential to Europe’s renewable energy transition but often still face structural barriers to participation in energy and industrial policymaking. Through EREF, these actors gain equal access to European processes and discussions, ensuring that their practical experience and perspectives contribute to shaping future frameworks and markets.

As an EREF member, you help reinforce the visibility and recognition of smaller producers and innovators within Europe’s energy transition. Together, we work to ensure that the principles of fairness, diversity, and decentralisation remain embedded in European energy legislation and implementation.

Together, we are building a decentralised, democratic, and 100% renewable energy system that delivers secure, affordable, and sustainable energy for all.
